My Scrap Space

I finally got around to taking some pictures of my scrapping space. It isn't anything fancy and alot of my storage ideas are very frugal, but it works for me.
This is my paper storage system..not very fancy or anything, but it works. Paper is seperated according to the ROY G BIV system.
The best investment I have made so far. My Cricut.
This is my stamp drawer. I have all my clear stamps in the orange and white box.
This is my ribbon storage. Some people use tulle as the holder, but I didn't have any, so I took a length of the paisly ribbon on the left in the picture and threaded the spools on that then thumbtacked the ends to the wall. This is the most awesome trimmer ever. It is the Purple Cow 2 in 1. You can remove the rotary cutter from the base and pack it for crops. The guillotine blade is ceramic, so it will never dull or cut your fingers. I love it. It sells for about $70, but I got mine with a 50% off coupon at A C Moore. This is my room as you look it. My desk, on the right and our spare bed on the left. Right now, the bed is loaded with things that I need to find a spot for. The wall in back of the desk is where I hang my ABC Stickers according to color.

Card Business

I am trying to get my card business off the ground. I am putting up flyers, handing out business cards and making cards to put in my Dad's shop in Virginia. With God's help this will take off and the money will keep me from having to go out and get a job outside my home. This is something that Tim and I are hoping for. Neither of us wants me to have to work. I so love staying home with Kierstynne. We have so much fun together and I don't want to have to give that up. Your children do not stay small long and I feel it is important to savor every moment. Please pray for me and my new business adventure. Thanks.

Swap Items

Items I made for Swaps This is a little matchbook that I made for a swap. The stamped image was watercolored and outlined. Glitter was added to the butterfly wings. These are for a Quote swap...it reads.."Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend." This is an example of a matchbook that I did for a swap for Poolside.

Preschool Graduation

Kierstynne and some of her friends on Graduation Day 6-6-09 How cute and grown up is my baby.
Kierstynne and her "boyfriend" Hunter. They are such a riot when they are together. I can't believe my baby is 5. Where have these last years gone. I would swear it was only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant after 4 years of trying. The doctors told us we would never get pregnant, but guess what, God had other plans. Watching my little girl, so grown up singing her songs and walking up to get her diploma was so very emotional for me. She is so very independant. Sometimes I feel like she doesn't need me anymore. At other times, when she crawls up in my lap to snuggle, my heart melts and I know that she will always need me. Maybe not to snuggle, but in some form she will need me, and for that, I am comforted.

The cost of a Princess Castle Cake

My daughter, Kierstynne, decided that she wanted a princess castle cake for her 5th birthday. Ok..didn't seem like an issue. We went to the grocery store to check on them and as I picked myself up off the floor after realizing they wanted $50 for a cake, I thought, "Hey, I can make her a cake for less that that." I went to Michael's and they had a castle set for $20. It included all the towers, turrets, windows, the door and the gable. I already had the pans and I could make the cake from scratch. The only thing I had to buy was the fondant for the flowers. Well, after 2 days of baking and decorating, I now realize that $50 isn't that bad for a cake...

Thank You Cards for Pastors

This is a set of thank you cards for the 6 pastors at my mom's church. Her group, ROC of Ages, is a senior group that meet monthly. They decided to do something special as a little token of thanks for the pastors. My mom volunteered me to make the cards for the group. I am trying to get my business off the ground and this was a great way to start. I sent some business cards and the leader of the group wants me to make a flyer to hand in the church foyer. How cool is that...it will have my blog address on it so people can see my work.

Clowning Around

This is a paper piecing I did for a swap. My Clown on a Flower Pot. This was the first pp I did that was so indepth. I really enjoyed it and I think it came out pretty cute.

Yankee Christmas Dinner

This past Christmas Eve, I finally got some pictures of our Christmas dinner. Yankee Christmas dinners are nothing like Southern Christmas dinners. I had my first Yankee dinner in 1999 and have been hooked ever since. In the south, where I was born and raised, we have basically the same thing as Thanksgiving...turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, coconut pie, chocolate pie...you get the picture. Not in the north. Lord was I suprised when we went to my husband's grandparent's house for dinner. Shrimp, lobster tails, smelts, spagetti with anchovy sauce, manhattan clam chowder...heavens to betsy, I was in love. I love seafood and this was right up my alley. I no longer desire the usual southern Christmas meal..no sir...it's a Yankee Christmas Dinner for me..

Baby Cards

This baby card was made with scrap papers that I had laying around, the shaker stickers were from a set I found at Michael's

This one was made for a friend of my Mother's in Virginia. I used a miniature diaper pin to fold up the bottom corner. The animals are dimentional sticker.

Cards

These are a set of 4th of July cards that I made for a swap that I participated in. Most of the papers came from a Scrapbooking calendar that I had from 2007. Yeah I know, I am a little behind...The first card, I cut out the fence and adhered it to another background. The quilled firecrackers on the last card are stickers that I found on clearance at Walmart.

Starting a New Blog

This is going to be a new challenge for me. I am not very good at this blogging thing. I am going to learn how to design my page and post some of my work. Heaven help me with this technical stuff.
